World famous String Quartet appearing in Newry

Newry Chamber Music has announced that the world famous Brodsky Quartet will be performing as part of their 2013 season on 12th February at Sandy’s Street Presbyterian Church.

The Brodsky Quartet, who celebrated their 40th year in 2012 have performed worldwide and have made more than 60 recordings.

They have been at the cutting edge of the Classical Music world throughout this time and have gone a long way to making the String Quartet accessible to all those interested in music.

During the early 1990’s they provided the entire instrumental backing for Elvis Costello’s iconic album ‘The Juliet Letters’ and have also recorded a beautiful version of Eleanor Rigby with Sir Paul McCartney.

The appearance of such an international group is a real coup for Newry Chamber Music and indeed the City of Newry.

The programme for the evening, which has a distinctly American flavour, includes favourites by Gershwin as well as the hauntingly beautiful and poignant Barber’s Adagio.

Tickets for this event can be reserved by visiting newrychambermusic.com or calling 028 308 30482.
