Ruane calls for Bridal Loanan resurfacing

Sinn Fein councillor Mickey Ruane has said he has been in contact with the Section Engineer for Roads Service in relation to the deteriorating surface of the Bridal Loanan in Warrenpoint.

The resurfacing on Bridal Loanan was postponed to facilitate the laying of gas pipes along that section of road and these works are now complete.

Roads Service are now liaising with the contractor to get them on site as soon as possible to have the resurfacing work carried out.

Speaking to Newry Times, Ruane stated, “Local residents on the Bridal Loanan area have shown a lot of patience over the last year and I have pressed upon Roads Service to action any repairs in the short term.

“The recent spell of snow and frost combined with the necessary use of salt has contributed to the deterioration of the surfaces on a number of roads in the locality. The Upper Dromore Road has also shown signs of deterioration recently and is now in a very poor state of repair in some areas.

He added, “I would ask that any residents in the Warrenpoint area who have concerns to report the issues to our local office who will ensure that they are raised with the Roads service.”

The opening times for the Advice Center are 10am to 4pm Monday to Friday and the office can be contacted on 0284175283.
