Go nuts for birds at Slieve Gullion
Why not go to Slieve Gullion Courtyard on Saturday 26th from 2-4pm to take part in the worlds largest wildlife survey, the RSPB’s Big Garden Birdwatch!
“The Big Garden Birdwatch is a very simple survey to get involved in. All you need to do is spend one hour at any time over the weekend of 26 – 27th January noting the highest number of each bird species seen in your garden or local park, then report back.
“The event at Slieve Gullion will involve counting the bird visitors as well as other fun activities for all the family.”
Darren Rice, Ring of Gullion AONB Officer, has been preparing for extra visitors to Slieve Gullion. “I have put up some extra bird feeders to encourage our feathered friends to visit. Of course, with this recent cold snap it is very important to put extra food out for the birds as they have trouble finding their natural food.”
If you can’t make it along to the event, why not take part in the survey at home. Log onto http://www.rspb.org.uk/birdwatch to register and download your counting sheet.
