Newry City councillor Valerie Harte has condemned the robbery of the Dublin Road filling station last Thursday.

Speaking after the incident councillor Harte said, “These types of incidents are becoming all too common in our area and more often we hear of weapons being used. There is no place in our society for this activity especially in the difficult times in which we now find ourselves.

She added, “I would call on those responsible to cease as they are causing heartache for those caught up in these incidents. I would call on residents to be extra vigilant especially where elderly people are living and report any suspicious activity.”
