Sinn Féin MLA Caitriona Ruane has welcomed the news that dropped kerbs in Hilltown could be installed during the current work programme being carried out in the area. Speaking to Newry Times, Ms. Ruane said, “I met with Cindy Noble Senior Engineer, DRD Roads Service back in May and discussed the possibility of dropped kerbs in the Hilltown area. “Dropped kerbs will be helpful for people in wheel chairs, disabled people and mothers with prams and allow people to cross roads in a safer manner. She added, “I have continued to lobby DRD Roads Service to request dropped kerbs in Hilltown and have been told the DRD Roads Service, who are currently carrying out work in Hilltown and will consider doing this work at the same time.”
