Police charge man with 2011 cannabis factory discovery

South Armagh Neighbourhood Policing Team and detectives from E District’s Tactical Crime Unit have charged a 38 year old man with a number of offences following the discovery of a cannabis factory in the Ferryhill Road area of Newry in November 2011.

The man was charged with possession of class B drugs, possession of class B drugs with intent to supply and cultivation of cannabis. and will appear before Newry Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 5th December.

As is normal procedure the charges will be reviewed by the PPS.

Speaking to Newry Times, Sergeant Sam Hoey, South Armagh NPT, said:

“We would like to thank the community for their support during this investigation. We understand the effect the illegal use and supply of drugs can have in a community and we are committed to doing all we can to tackle this issue.

“Working together with the local community helps us do this much more effectively and I would ask for their continued support.”
