Hospice launch Apprentice-style ‘You’re Hired!’

The Southern Health and Social Care Trust has teamed up with the Southern Area Hospice to organise an ‘Apprentice’ style challenge for staff. The event, which will take place on 16th November, will challenge three teams of Trust staff to each take over a Hospice Charity Shop (Newry, Banbridge and Dungannon) for a day.
Teams will compete to raise money and stock for each of the three shops. Entrepreneurial, creative and team-working skills will be tested as competitors devise innovative ways of making the most sales.

The challenge has been organised as part of the ‘Trust in Community’ initiative where the Southern Trust works in partnership with the community and voluntary sector to address community issues.

Mairead McAlinden, Chief Executive of the Southern Trust said:

“As well as being a fun event and personal challenge for the staff involved, we hope that the Southern Area Hospice will benefit from the money raised by this event. We are encouraging local communities to get behind the teams by donating stock or calling in to make a purchase on the 16th November to benefit this very worthy cause.”

The team for the Newry area (Trust in the Hospice) is currently busy promoting, fundraising and generating stock for the Newry shop.

If you would like to make a donation please call into the Newry Hospice Shop on Monaghan Street on Friday 16th November 2012 where there will be exciting competitions, prizes, and you can get some refreshments and lots of other entertainment, please call in to support your local hospice shop!

If you would like to donate clothes for the shop please leave them at the hospice shop before the big day and clearly mark on them “Apprentice Challenge”.
