PSNI launch investigation after hatchet-wielding men commit armed robbery

Detectives in Newry are appealing for information following an armed robbery at a commercial premises in the Dublin Road area yesterday, Wednesday 10th October. At approximately 5.45pm, two males armed with a hatchet and hammer entered a shop and took a sum of money from the till. Both had their heads covered with scarves over their faces and were wearing gloves. It is believed that they made off in a waiting silver Vauxhall or Opel Vectra. Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to contact CID in Ardmore Police Station on 0845 600 8000. Or if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.
