Detectives in Newry are appealing for information following an armed robbery of a cash in transit van in the Damolly Retail Park this morning (Friday 28th September).

At approximately 11.20am, it was reported that two masked males, one believed to be armed with a knife, made off with a sum of money from the cash in transit van. No-one was injured in the incident.

The two masked males made off in a silver Mitsubishi Shogun in the direction of the border. The Shogun was damaged while trying to be stopped. The two men later hijacked a silver Audi TT in the Edenappa Road over the border and abandoned the Shogun. The female driver of the Audi was assaulted in the hijack.

Anyone with any information about this incident, particularly anyone in the Damolly Retail Park, Armagh Road, Newry or the Fiveways Filling Station carpark, Newry, around 11.00am to 11.30am today is asked to contact CID in Ardmore Police Station on 0845 600 8000.

Or if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.
