Encouraging people to get out into the Ring of Gullion isn’t hard but when Newry and Mourne launched this years photography competition they weren’t expecting such quality from amateur photographers, especially in the under 14 category. Councillor Mayor John McArdle, Assistant Director for Culture and Arts Aisleain McGill and Professional local photographer Kathleen McCreesh had a very difficult job selecting the best photograph. Darren Rice, Ring of Gullion Officer said, “Many thanks to everyone who took part. The six winning pictures perfectly reflect this year’s theme; Wet and Wild in the Ring of Gullion, and of course this year’s summer helped with that theme. Maybe next year we could have the theme Hot and Dry!” Councillor Mayor John McArdle would like to invite everyone along to Newry Arts Centre to this year’s exhibition. The exhibition will launch on Friday 5th October and will run until Monday 22nd October. You can view the entrants and find out much much more about the Ring of Gullion on the website – www.ringofgullion.org and follow the Ring of Gullion on Facebook to keep up to date on what’s happening.
