Sinn Fein Councillor Colman Burns has reminded people that the Boiler Replacement Scheme will commence next month, September 2012. Anyone who thinks they could be eligible can register now by telephoning 0300 200 7874.

Councillor Burns explained the criteria needed for eligibility. “The scheme is to be administered by the Housing Executives Grants Department and is targeted at owner occupiers whose total gross income is less than £40,000 and is to help with the cost of replacing a boiler that is fifteen years old or over, with a new boiler.”

The Councillor continued, “The grant entitlement will depend on your total income. Those earning less than £20,000 are entitled to receive £700. Those earning £20,000 or more but less than £40 000, are entitled to receive £400 for replacing their boiler.”

Councillor Burns added, “I am encouraging anyone who thinks they may be eligible to register now with the Housing Executive. Grants department staff will then get in contact when the scheme commences in September”
