O.K… so you’ve always wanted to learn how to dance yeah? But you’ve never had the time or didn’t know where to go. Well, lucky for you, two supremely talented Newry dancers are about to take you on an epic journey of social dancing.

Gerald and Patricia have won Ballroom and Latin American dancing competitions throughout the UK and Ireland

Gerald and Patricia Malone have been dancing for over 25 years competitively and socially so they know what it’s like to start from scratch and dance your way to the top.

The Newry based couple, who boast All-Ireland honours amongst their impressive array of medals and trophies, have just launched their new dance academy – Shall We Dance?

The couple have a dancing CV every bit as impressive as their quick feet and are starting with a beginners only class next month in what promises to be a great weekly social event for all those lucky enough to be involved.

The Swing Jive, Slow Waltz and the Quickstep are three dances you will learn every Tuesday night and all three dances are a great way to have fun and exercise in a friendly atmosphere.

Dancing is a great way to stay in shape and enjoy yourself but Gerald insists it is also a fantastic way to make new friends. Speaking about his own dancing career, Gerald laughs and says it started with ‘putting one foot in front of the other’.

Gerald continued, “We started dancing nearly 25 years ago and since then we have met so many amazing people and have forged life-long friendships with people from across the country.

“When we were competing we also travelled across Ireland for different dancing events so it definitely is a great sport for people to get involved in.”

He added, “Dancing is all about having fun and meeting new people so I think everybody will really enjoy our new classes, Patricia and I are really excited about it and the response so far has been unbelievable.”

Spaces for the classes are limited so it is advised you register your interest early to avoid disappointment.
