Stolen fuel dumped in Cranfield

A recent incident which involved the dumping of stolen fuel in the Cranfield area has prompted an angry response from Sinn Fein councillor Sean Doran.

Speaking to Newry Times, Doran blasted, “I want to condemn the disgraceful dumping of stolen fuel in an area of scenic beauty by mindless thieves who not only stole the fuel but showed a total disregard for the safety of local residents. To take the fuel was bad enough but to blight an integral element of our local tourist industry in the process shows how little these people care for the wellbeing of our community”

Councillor Doran went on to point out that in the current economic climate when people are faced with the loss of jobs and attacks on welfare, it is particularly distressing to note that there are people who are prepared to steal vital fuel and want only damage our tourist potential at the same time by damaging the environment.

“Anyone with information regarding this incident should come forward and help to ensure these people are forced to pay for their crime and the cost of cleaning up the toxic mess,” he added.
