St. Bronagh’s GAA reveal ambitious ‘2019’ plans

St. Bronagh’s GAA Club in Rostrevor has revealed that the club plans to mark its centenary year with a host of improvements to the infrastructure of the club.

'Vision 2019' requires the support of the local community

To meet the ambitious seven year plan, the club has announced that it has purchased 12 acres of land on the Drumsesk Road, Rostrevor. Aptly named ‘Vision 2019’, the landmark development will provide two full sized floodlit playing fields with perimeter fencing and a new changing room complex.

To counter the poor weather, it will also incorporate provision for an all-weather training pitch and a walking track. Around 150 vehicles will able to make use of a huge new car park in the development and a commercial gymnasium will also be an integral part of the new site. Additionally, there will be a meeting/conference facility for the local community to avail of.

A spokesman said, “Since 1919, through the support of our members, St Bronagh’s GAA has grown to become a thriving sporting and cultural organisation promoting Gaelic games and culture at the heart of the Rostrevor community.”

The new site will have a new training pitch, a gym and two full size floodlit pitches

“The Club has almost 600 members and fields 11 male and female football teams, including seven juvenile teams while our football ground in Pettit Park plays host to thousands of young players every year.”

With just seven years between now and the 2019 centenary, St. Bronagh’s insist it is the club’s vision to continue to grow membership and to “provide state of the art sporting/training facilities to the local community and young gaels.”

Of course, with any huge development aimed at providing something special for the community, St. Bronagh’s needs support for their project from that community. The spokesman added, “To make this project a reality, we appeal to you to join us today and become a ‘Friend of Rostrevor’. By helping us to deliver Vision 2019, you will become part of a lasting legacy for the village and for your children and grandchildren who will be the GAA stars of tomorrow.”

“Pledge your support today by becoming a ‘Friend of Rostrevor’ and be part of this exciting new chapter in the history of St Bronagh’s GAA.”
