SDLP Slieve Gullion Councillor Geraldine Donnelly has spoken of her sadness at the death of a local teenager who was driving on the Castleblayney to Dundalk Road several days ago.

Speaking to Newry Times, Donnelly said: “This young man was part of a much-loved and community-spirited family in South Armagh and he will be sorely missed. My thoughts and prayers are with his parents and siblings at this very painful and difficult time.”

“I also want to wish the young woman in the car with him a speedy recovery as she is treated for injuries in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda.”

Donnelly added, “The whole community will be saddened and shocked by this tragic event and it is important that we all support the family and each other.”
