Translink swings into action for Irish Open Golf

Translink has announced that it is providing dedicated coach and park & ride services for golf fans from Newry heading to the 2012 Irish Open at Royal Portrush Golf Club, June 28th to July 1st. With thousands of additional visitors expected to descend on the popular North Coast seaside town, golf fans are being encouraged to plan their journeys in advance. Translink North Eastern Area Manager Arthur Hamilton says there are many travel options available, “The Irish Open is set to be one of this year’s sporting highlights and we want to ensure visitors to Portrush enjoy hassle-free journeys and that traffic congestion in the area is reduced as much as possible. “The European Tour has already announced record ticket sales and hundreds of people have already booked their travel with us by coach or train. We would strongly encourage remaining ticket-holders to also think about how they will get safely to and from Royal Portrush.” For Newry golf fans wishing to travel to the Irish open there will be, “Dedicated golf coach services will depart from Newry and are available to book online only at £15 per adult and £7.50 per child.” Arthur Hamilton concluded that, “We have worked closely with the European Tour, NITB, Coleraine Borough Council and the PSNI to devise a suitable transport plan for this high profile event and we are looking forward to bringing thousands of additional passengers to the North Coast.” For further information including ticket bookings click or call the Translink contact centre on 90 66 66 30.
