The Mayor of Newry and Mourne District Council, Cllr Charlie Casey recently welcomed students and teachers from school across the Newry and Mourne District to the Post Primary Schools annual table quiz organised by the Councils Good Relations Unit. Speaking to Newry Times, the Mayor said, “I am delighted to welcome teams from across Newry and Mourne and the surrounding districts to participate in this event and have the opportunity to interact in a fun way with people they have not met before. “Education is so much more than obtaining academic or vocational qualifications; it is about personal and social development.” He added, “The success of the quiz is achieved because of the level of participation and support from the Schools. Newry and Mourne District Council actively encourages all participation and co-operation in civic life throughout the community and I believe tonight is a great example of that at its best.”
