Hazzard welcomes DOE Road Safety Grants Programme
Sinn Féin Environment spokesperson Chris Hazzard MLA has said that community groups and voluntary organisations should apply for the Road Safety Grants Programme.
The South Down MLA said: “The Community Transport Association (CTA) is now inviting applications for a DOE road safety grant from the voluntary and community sector. Community, special interest groups and individuals can apply for grants of any size up to a maximum of £15,000 to develop and run locally-focussed road safety projects.
“The programme is funded by DOE Road Safety Division and is designed to encourage local community groups to run innovative road safety projects which address the objectives of the Road Safety Strategy.”
He added, “Those interested can download an application pack at www.ctauk.org/roadsafetygrant or call into any of our Sinn Féin offices in Downpatrick, Castlewellan, or Warrenpoint. To qualify, groups must be properly constituted, have a bank account and be able to complete the project by March 2013.”
