Security alert in Newry after ‘suspicious object’ found

A suspicious object on the A1 road in Newry has led to traffic disruption and an ongoing security alert. Speaking to Newry Times, a PSNI spokesman confirmed the incident. “Police in Newry are investigating the discovery of a suspicious object on the A1 close to Forkhill turn off.”

The spokesman said that Army Technical Officers have been tasked to examine the object.
