Newry & Mourne councillor Charlie Casey has commented on the huge numbers of people who have used the new running track at St Colman’s College since it became operational. It is believed more than 6000 people have used it since it opened. Speaking to Newry Times, the Lord Mayor enthused, “I believe the track has been in use for about 5 months so for it to have attracted in excess of 6000 users in that short space of time is outstanding and fully justifies the large investment in the track by Newry & Mourne Council and others.” He added, “I know there are additional works to be done to the track to make it fully operational and this should see even more people making use of this wonderful resource for our city. I hope that many families, sports enthusiasts and community groups make full use of all of the facilities on offer.”
