Crossmaglen triumph in All Ireland final

Crossmaglen Rangers have been crowned All-Ireland Club football champions for the sixth time, following an impressive win over Garrycastle at Breffni Park.

Cross went into the game looking to make it two in a row for the second time and took their opponents apart in a fantastic first half display of football. Oisin McConville hit four of Rangers’ eight first half points, with late addition to the squad Francis Hanratty burying two goals in the 5th and 18th minutes to put the Armagh men into a very comfortable 2-08 to 0-04 half time lead.

Gary Dolan pulled a goal back for the Leinster champions in the second half, however it wasn’t to be for his side as Crossmaglen continued to surge forward hitting a further 11 points, with McConville once again impressing.

The result means Crossmaglen join their fellow Armagh men St Pauls in celebrating All-Ireland glory. Rangers are now the first team in history to win the Andy Merrigan Cup back to back on two occasions.

Final score in Cavan:

Crossmaglen Rangers 2-19 Garrycastle 1-07
