Arsonists continue to set fire to local land

Arsonists have set fire to several local mountains in recent days

Police in Newry are appealing for information following further land fires yesterday morning. At 10.29am (Thursday, 29th March) police received a report of a fire at the Annaghbane Road entrance to Camlough Forest. Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene and dealt with the blaze. Later in the day at approximately 2:59pm, police received reports of a gorse fire at the Bernish Road area of the city.

A PSNI spokesman told Newry Times that both incidents were being treated as arson.
