Newry City Academy – Meet The Players: Jordan King (Under 18’s)

Recently the Newry Times team caught up with Newry U-18 player Jordan King to find out a little more about him.

Name: Jordan King

Age: 16

Position: Left Back/Left Midfield

Previous clubs: Barcroft and Bessbrook

Greatest achievement so far in your career? Winning the double with Barcroft and getting to play against Norwich youth academy.

Best player you have played against? John Grant of Millbrook.

Best ground you have played in? Norwich City training ground.

Do you support any English clubs? Liverpool.

What club would you like to play for in the future? Newry City as I have been here for three years now, I really enjoy playing for them and it is brilliant to play for my local youth team.

What is one thing that you enjoy while playing football? Even though I haven’t done it much with Newry so far, but winning is definitely one of the most enjoyable things about playing football along with the feeling of being able to do what you love on a regular basis.

What inspires you to play football? Again it would have to be winning and getting to play in front of big crowds in the future is a big inspiration.

Who has been the biggest influence in your career so far? I have a couple of influential people in my career so far and these would have to be, Gary Quinn who managed me in my first year at Newry City and the other two being Ryan McConville (Mourinho) and Gary Redpath who are both brilliant managers.

What brought you to play for Newry? Gary Quinn, three years ago where I started off playing under 16s at the age of 15.

Who is the biggest joker in the team? Would have to be Ryan Quinn.

Who is the best trainer at the club? Definitely Jordy King!

What’s your favourite thing about playing for Newry? The feeling of getting to play for my local City.
