Newry Times meet the players: Cian Feehan (Newry City u16s)

Name: Cian Feehan.

Age: 16.

Position: Utility player but prefer playing in the hole between midfield and up front.

Previous clubs: Bessbrook.

Greatest achievement so far in your career? Receiving player of the tournament in the Holland Tournament which is the ‘Three points tournament’ on the Dutch/Belgium and German border.

Best player you have played against? Declan O Neill when we played against Willowbank.

Best ground you have played in? One of Norwich’s training pitches!

Do you support any English clubs? Arsenal.

What club would you like to play for in the future? Newry City in the Premiership of the Irish League.

What is one thing that you enjoy while playing football? Has to be winning!

What inspires you to play football? It inspires me when I read old articles about my Granda Mallon going to Northampton to play back in the late 50s and also looking at video clips of my uncle Ciaran when he was at Tottenham for 4 years when he played with Nickey Barmbey and when Paul Gascoigne was there.

Who has been the biggest influence in your career so far? Would have to be my dad and great uncle James.

What brought you to play for Newry? I came down with some of my Bessbrook teammates to start up the youth academy as I wanted to play for a senior soccer club.

Who is the biggest joker in the team? Ryan Quinn.

Who is the best trainer at the club? Jordy king.

What’s your favorite thing about playing for Newry? My favourite thing about playing for Newry is that I am from Newry and therefore I play for my local team and I enjoy doing so.
