Irish Language week announced as part of St Patrick’s festivities
Apart from the usual activities organised by Newry and Mourne District Council as part of the St. Patrick’s Day festivities, the Irish Language Unit will be providing a number free bilingual events for those interested in Irish language and culture during Seachtain na Gaeilge: Irish Language Week.

A multimedia presentation by Louise McCreesh, Producer & Presenter with BBC Radio Ulster’s Irish Language Department: ‘The BBC and the Irish Language’
6 March at 8 pm,The Sean Hollywood Arts Centre
Placenames Project with Reámonn Ó Ciaráin, Gael Linn: Part 2 ‘The Gaelic Landscape’
9 March at 8 pm, Bagenal’s Castle
A multimedia presentation by Ciarán Dunbar, editor of Gaelscéal: ‘The Irish Language in Oriel’
12 March at 8 pm, Bagenal’s Castle
Joyce Gibson, Language activist and member of the Ultach Trust: ‘It all started with a song’

Bilingual poetry reading with Pól Ó Muirí, Irish language editor of The Irish Times: ‘Ó Muirí, Murray, meaning ‘mariner’
