Heroic woman risks life rescuing two from blaze
Two people escaped injury last night following a fire at the Simon Community building on Bridge Street, Newry. Fire crews were called to the scene at around 2am this morning.
The two people were rescued by a female staff member, who also managed to extinguish the fire before crews from The Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service arrived.
Station Commander Eugene McNally praised the woman’s efforts, “She was able to inform us that most of the residents were evacuated and that two people were still missing. She was also able to tell us exactly where the two residents were.”
