Surge in wheelie bin thefts in Newry

Police in Newry are appealing for information following the theft of two wheelie bins from the same address in Cowan Street over the last number of weeks. In the first incident, a blue wheelie bin was taken from the property between Friday 25th November and Saturday 26th November.

A black wheelie bin was taken between Saturday 17th December and Sunday 18th December. On both occasions the bins were burnt in the local area close to a church. Police are appealing to anyone who has information in relation to these thefts. They are also asking residents in the local community to keep an eye on each others properties and report any suspicious or untoward activity to police immediately.
