The Newry and Mourne District Council has announced the launch of the 2011 Sports Personality Awards to be held on the 15th March 2012. Speaking at the launch, Chairman of the Sports Development Committee Mr Damian McCullough said, “I am delighted to announce this years event. I feel it gives our sporting community a chance to celebrate itself and it’s achievements. There are so many dedicated people involved in bringing our area to the fore in the sporting world.”

He added, “Nominations do not necessarily need to be someone who is seen on a pitch each week, they can be someone who in your opinion works tirelessly in the background for the benefit of a club, team or sport. If you feel someone deserves recognition then nominate them on the form displayed from the categories listed below. Don’t miss your opportunity and get nominating!”
